First photos. :]

Ho hum.
Finally got my fantastic boy friend to take pictures of me.
He's a photographer so he had a bit of fun with it, as did I. :]
Here is a photo of my lovely photographer:
Baha. Cutie. Taken by moi.

Anyways, moving on.
I put together an outfit of all pieces under 20 dollars.

I really do love this outfit. I threw it on in about 5 minutes.
The top is from Rainbow.
I'm not usually a fan, but this caught my eye.
I love the zipper on the back and the sleeves.
It's also incredibly comfy and was 10 dollars.
The skirt is from M&S from a recent trip to Liverpool.
It was 10 pounds.
The shoes are by Bamboo and were on clearance for $5.
I bought the belt at a flea market a few years ago for $2.
The rings were also bought at a flea market.
The bracelet was from Lia Sophia for $15, discounted.

More to come. Muah.

Adding to the team!

So, a good friend of mine has decided to double up with me and blog as well!

She's extra super fabulous, and she chooses to only be known as...

The Madame.

How mysterious is that?

I love it.

Knickers.

P.S. Making new layouts is a pain in the ass. I'm not positive if I love this one yet.

Doin' it Etsy-style.

I thought I'd do another Etsy post since that has been my favorite so far.
Also, speaking of Etsy.. I'm hitting the fabric district tomorrow, and I am so excited.
I'm itching to sew again.
Hopefully I'll have pictures to put up.

Anyways, ETSY.
While I love the vintage finds, I prefer the handmade.
Although, I have to admit, finding nicely made, decently priced handmade stuff on Etsy can sometimes be challenging, but here are some of my favorite pieces this week.

How beautiful is this? I fell in love with this necklace as soon as I saw it.

I am a complete sucker for peacock feathers and statement necklaces, so this is completely up my alley.

This gorgeous piece is made by FeathersofArtemis and is being sold for $70.00.

I think I'd actually like to live in this necklace. I know, I'm babbling and being redundant, but I really can't get over this piece. It would go perfectly with an LBD I got today.
Maybe something to save up for.. Hmmm.

Anyways, moving on.

I know you're wondering if I went out of my way to go for a peacock theme, but no, no I didn't.
Maybe I'm just drawn to peacock stuff?
Anyways, I love tunics. So few body types aren't flattered by tunics. [What weird phrasing..]
I also happen to have a belt almost exactly like that one.
Destiny?
Maybe.

Anyways, I absolutely love the printing coming out from the neck, and I love that it's a perfect length. And seriously, how pretty is that model?
Mm. Flattery will get me no where.

Anyways, this dress was made by betenoireprints and is available for a mere $22.00.

Practically a steal!

Also, her other pieces are really cute so she's definitely worth checking out, if you have the time.

Holy. Crap.
Seriously.
I am obsessed with Gerbera daisies, incase you couldn't tell by my layout. They are my "thing" I suppose you could say. I also, obviously love peacock feathers, so how freaking wonderful is this?
I don't know if I'd ever take it off. Ha.

This is made by CalicoGarden and is available for $18.00. Again, she has an adorable shop, so if you're into flowers, she's definitely worth the peek!

Well, that's all I have time for for today.
Muah!

Ruling it out.

Now, I said in my first post this will not be a blog of do's and don'ts because I don't believe in telling other people how to dress. It's not my style. However, I do have rules that I follow for myself. Guidelines that I believe make me feel fabulous, so I'll go ahead and share that.

1. Base is key.
I believe that I should feel fabulous naked and this should go for everyone. I'm not saying a woman should be thin and fit. That would make me a hypocrite. I believe in embracing whatever size you are. Whether that's a size 2 or a size 20. I do, however, believe in taking care of the body I was blessed with. I do whatever I can to take care of my skin and hair. I do dye my hair, so I do a deep conditioning whenever I can. I also do my best to lotion daily and remove my makeup before I go to bed. I also believe in doing what I can to smell nice. I am a strong believer in investing in perfumes and body sprays. Stinky fashionistas are not so fabulous, eh?

I also believe in posture and speaking articulately adds more class to a woman than a million dollar pearl necklace could.

2. Underoos.
Good underwear is also important to me. Not only do I feel like a million dollars when I am wearing good, well fittings underwear, but it makes the silhouette work better. Panty-lines, unsupported breasts or quad-boobs are easy fab killers for me. (Also, matching the color of your bra to the color of your shirt does not work. If your shirt is see-through, opt for a nude colored bra. This may strike you as "duh", but a lot of people still don't know this little trick.)

3. Balance!
When I am getting dressed I like to stop and think, "Am I showing too much? Am I showing too little?" If I have a lot of cleavage happening, my legs are covered. If I am showing a lot of leg, my arms and chest are concealed. I learned that rule of class at a young age.

4. Stay true.
This, again, seems a bit "duh", but I believe in always staying true to myself. And I don't believe in labels. I'll never say, "I'm biker-chic" or "Preppy-urban." I believe this puts us in a box. When I pick up a garment, I think, "Do I like this?" not "Does this fit my style?". Also, when a trend hits, I aim to think "Do I like that?" It makes me unhappy when I see so many people following trends blindly. Ahem, Uggs.

5. Texture, texture, texture.
Again, how predictable. But, again, these are my rules for when I get ready, so stfu. Anyways, I always try to make sure there are multiple textures in my outfit. A little shiny with a little knit or woven. I think a single colored outfit in multiple textures is much more interesting than the reverse.

6. Don't give me rules!
Psh. I'm such a hypocrite. Anyways, I believe in breaking certain rules:
- Don't mix prints? Yeah, do that. It's interesting and it makes a statement.
- Don't mix metals? I wear silver and gold, and I do it proudly.
- Horizontal stripes? Now, to be fair, this one has been kind of let go, but I still love stripes, so I'm still going to say it.

7. Don't overspend.
I know we all seem so tempted to buy the beautiful garments we see in magazines and on TV and runways, aren't we? Every time I see a piece I absolutely adore, I ask myself "Can I find that some where else cheaper?" or better yet "Could I make that?" In these times, it's so important to me to save money, but not sacrifice my style. I believe it is worth the effort. Some classic advice: Splurge on the classics that will last a lifetime. Save on the trends that you know you may not wear five years down the road.

8. Sweat.
I despise sweat clothes and work out clothing with a passion. I will never be caught outside of my house in anything less casual than jeans. I believe my sweats should be worn in the house, at best. I have two pairs of sweat pants that I use as pajamas, and I'm not even a fan of them. I don't much care for track-suits either. Juicy Couture disappoints me in that regard.

9. Vintage beats Trends.
Sorry, I'm a vintage kind of gal. I will always pick thrifting and vintage shopping over boutiques and department stores. Not just because this saves me money, or because each piece is so much more rare and original, but because of the stories. Each garment hanging in a thrift shop has a story behind it. It's been places I haven't and it's seen things I never will. Also, if it's still in decent shape after so many years, it will probably last a long time.

So, those are Knickerrific rules for you, I suppose.
More later!

Polywhore.

I just love the spring collection by Givenchy. The textures, the colors, the silhouettes. It's beautiful and I think I may be in love. I don't have time to write much, but just.. look! Pictures courtesy of style.com

I love this dress. I'm not usually one for fading colors, but this is executed perfectly.

I'm a huge fan of rich colors like emerald green.

Another gorgeous, rich colored piece. I love the detailing and shine to it. It's so different from a lot of the other Spring collections this year.
This may actually be one of my favorites. It's a simple idea, but the textures, sleeves and detailing make it eye-catching. I want it! In my closet. Right now.

I love all the boots in this collection. There's a lot of that this spring. I love anything and everything fluffy. Need I say more?

While I probably won't be aiming to wear that hat anytime soon, I love the elegance of this dress.

Again, I love all of the texture in this collection! This top makes me smile on the inside.

Okay, like I said, short post. Not a lot of particularly deep thoughts, I know. Oh well.

Bootz.

It is late and this is my third post in 24 hours, so expect the sillies.

This post is for my good friend, Maranda "Bootzi". She is a bubbley girl full of wonders and funsies, and she demands her own post. Mostly because I fear for my life, I have decided to give it to her... In the form of shoes.

Sidenote, after a conversation with Glittur, we have come to a serious conclusion. "See, common thought is that Bowser kidnaps Peach because she is a princess, where in reality it's because he has unrequited feelings for Mario. He's acting out in the only way he knows how. He's hurting." Yeah. Never thought about that, did you?

Ahh, the classic Doc Martens. They have recent line of floral boots, and these are probably my favorite, although most expensive at a whopping $150.00

This pair is from Forever 21, and as always, I love a mixture of old and new. The victorian inspired style with the modern metal studs is just adorable. Available online for $30.80

Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. They’re so Maranda “Bootzi”, I had to put them on. I’m not sure how often I’d wear these, but they’re cute! Gabriella Rocha Mitsy Rainbow Boots available at Overstock.com for $33.75

I know, I know. They’re Alexander McQueen so they’re ridiculously expensive, but I do love them so. I’m a whore for anything paint splattered (and besides, this is simply a celebration of boots, not a shopping post!). Available at Zappos.com for $1039.00.

Alright, that's enough bootz for one night. ;D
